Picture this: you step into a pod about the size of a phone booth. The door closes around your body, your head stays comfortably above the top, and the chamber fills with warm, ozone-infused steam. For the next 30 minutes, your skin does the work — absorbing ozone, soaking in CO₂, taking in far infrared heat — while you just sit there.

No workout. No needles. No complicated prep. Just 30 minutes, 10 technologies running at once, and you walk out feeling lighter, looser, and recharged.

That's the HOCATT ozone sauna. At The PRO2COL in Nashville's Germantown neighborhood, it's one of the most requested sessions we offer — and once you understand what's actually happening inside the pod, you'll see why.

Why Ten Therapies in One Session Matters

Here's the reality most people run into: they want better recovery, more energy, less inflammation — but they don't have three hours a day to piece together separate appointments for every modality that might help.

Infrared sauna for heat. Red light for cellular repair. PEMF for muscle recovery. Ozone exposure for oxidative-stress conditioning. That's four sessions, four blocks on your calendar, and half your afternoon gone.

HOCATT layers those technologies into a single 30-minute session. Not as a shortcut — but because several of these modalities actually work better when they run together. Heat opens the blood vessels. CO₂ dilates them further. Then ozone arrives when your body is primed to absorb it.

"It's not ten random things happening at once. Each phase is sequenced to prepare your body for the next."

What Is a HOCATT Ozone Sauna?

HOCATT stands for Hyperthermic Ozone and Carbonic Acid Transdermal Technology. (Nobody calls it that. Everyone just says HOCATT.)

It's a personal-sized pod that delivers up to 10 modalities at the same time: transdermal ozone, steam sauna, far infrared heat, carbonic acid (CO₂), PEMF, photon light, oxygen breathing, aromatherapy, electrotherapy, and ultraviolet irradiation.

You sit inside with your head above the pod — breathing normally, completely comfortable — while the chamber runs through an automated sequence. It starts with a CO₂ phase to open up your circulation, then transitions to ozone-infused steam with far infrared, PEMF, and light therapy running in the background.

The whole thing takes about 30 minutes, and most people describe it as deeply relaxing. Think warm bath meets science fiction.

How HOCATT Ozone Therapy Works — What Happens Inside the Pod

Let's break down the headline players — the technologies doing the heaviest lifting.

    Ozone — The Main Event

Ozone (O₃) is the star of the show. Inside the steam-filled pod, ozone contacts your skin and may be absorbed through the pores. The idea isn't that ozone heals you directly — it's that a small, controlled dose of ozone may trigger your body's own repair systems to kick into higher gear.

Researchers call this oxidative preconditioning. In animal studies, ozone pretreatment has been linked to lower inflammation markers and stronger antioxidant enzyme activity. Think of it like a fire drill for your cells: a small, controlled stress that trains them to respond better when real stress shows up.

Most ozone research comes from clinical settings rather than sauna delivery specifically — so the mechanism is well understood, even if the exact transdermal dose is still being studied.

    CO₂ — The Opening Act

Before the ozone kicks in, the pod fills with carbon dioxide. This sounds counterintuitive, but there's a clear purpose: CO₂ dilates your blood vessels, increasing blood flow throughout your body.

In a clinical trial with 19 patients, topical CO₂ therapy roughly doubled blood flow in the treated area. That's why it goes first — it opens up the highways before the ozone and heat arrive, so everything that follows gets delivered more efficiently.

Steam and Far Infrared — The Deep Heat

The steam raises your core temperature, which increases circulation, heart rate, and sweating. Far infrared adds a deeper layer of heat that penetrates into muscle and tissue. Together, they create a whole-body hyperthermia effect — similar to what you'd get in a standalone infrared sauna session, but combined with everything else happening in the pod.

The cardiovascular and circulation benefits of heat therapy are well documented. Your body responds to heat the way it responds to moderate exercise: blood flow increases, the heart works a little harder, and your system gets a low-grade workout while you're sitting still.

    PEMF — The Cellular Signal

Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy sends low-frequency pulses through your body that may support cellular repair and reduce inflammation. It's most established in orthopedic settings — think bone healing and joint recovery — but the preclinical research on general cellular repair is promising. In the HOCATT, it runs quietly in the background while the other modalities do their thing.

Photon Light, Oxygen, and the Supporting Cast

The pod also cycles through photon light therapy (similar in principle to red light therapy), oxygen breathing through a nasal cannula, aromatherapy via essential oils in the steam, mild electrotherapy, and UV irradiation. These aren't the headliners, but they add supporting layers to the overall session.

If you're already doing standalone red light therapy or infrared sauna sessions here, the HOCATT doesn't replace those — it adds ozone, CO₂, PEMF, and the multi-modality sequencing on top.

Who Benefits Most from HOCATT Ozone Sauna Sessions?

The time-crunched athlete. You're already doing recovery work, but you need it to take less time. Thirty minutes covering ozone, heat, PEMF, and CO₂ beats booking four separate sessions.

The recovery-focused client. If you're looking for a session that supports circulation, heat exposure, controlled oxidative-stress conditioning, and inflammation-related recovery, the ozone and hyperthermia components are the most relevant. Many clients use HOCATT as one layer within a broader medically guided protocol.

The protocol builder. You're putting together a multi-modality routine and want one session that touches circulatory, immune, and muscular systems without eating your entire day.

The curious skeptic. You've heard about ozone therapy, you've read some things, and you want to try it in a controlled, comfortable setting before committing to anything more involved.

"Think warm bath meets science fiction."

What to Expect During a HOCATT Session in Nashville

Inside the HOCATT ozone sauna pod with green photon light therapy at The Pro2col Nashville

You arrive at our Germantown facility, change into a robe, and step into the HOCATT pod. Your head stays above the enclosure the entire time — you can breathe normally, talk with our team, scroll your phone, or just close your eyes and zone out. There's nothing to do. No positioning, no breath holds, no instructions to follow. You just sit.

The first few minutes feel like stepping into a warm steam room. That's the CO₂ phase — your blood vessels are dilating and your circulation is opening up. Then the ozone-infused steam kicks in alongside far infrared heat, PEMF, and photon light. The temperature builds gradually, never uncomfortably. Most people describe it as a deep, full-body warmth that's more relaxing than intense.

About 30 minutes later, the pod opens and you're done. No shower right away — we recommend giving the session time to finish before rinsing off, so the experience completes as designed. Most clients tell us they feel noticeably lighter, more relaxed, and clear-headed walking out.

HOCATT stacks well with IV therapy — the vasodilation from CO₂ and heat creates a circulation-primed environment for nutrient delivery. If you're building a multi-modality protocol, our team can help you sequence sessions for the best results.

HOCATT vs. Infrared Sauna — What's the Difference?

We hear this one a lot. And the short answer is: not even close.

An infrared sauna delivers deep heat. It's excellent for circulation, muscle relaxation, and winding down the nervous system. We offer standalone infrared sessions for exactly those reasons, and they're a staple in most of our members' routines.

HOCATT includes far infrared as one of ten components. It adds transdermal ozone, CO₂ vasodilation, PEMF, and several other modalities on top of the heat. If deep relaxation and heat are your main goals, infrared sauna is the right call. If you want a broader, multi-system session that covers more ground in less time, HOCATT is the move.

They're complementary, not interchangeable. A lot of our members use both.

What Does the Research Say About HOCATT?

We're not going to pretend every component of the HOCATT has decades of large-scale clinical trials behind it. Some do, some don't. Here's where things stand:

The ozone mechanism — oxidative preconditioning — has solid support in preclinical research, with studies showing reduced inflammation and stronger antioxidant response. Heat therapy and CO₂ vasodilation have well-documented effects on circulation and blood flow. PEMF has promising data, especially in orthopedic and pain settings.

Where the research is still catching up: the specific dose of ozone absorbed through the skin during a sauna session, the synergistic effects of running all ten modalities simultaneously, and chromotherapy (light color therapy) as a standalone intervention.

We think transparency builds more trust than hype. The individual mechanisms are well understood. The combined approach is backed by strong clinical logic and real-world experience. And the controlled research is moving in the right direction — it just hasn't caught up to what practitioners and clients are already seeing.

"We'd rather give you the honest picture and let the experience speak for itself than oversell something and lose your trust."
